HADR Institute Weekly Update
This week the team have been busy pulling together a rapid analysis report on the Israel-Hamas conflict, and the logistics of humanitarian response in such a complex and ever-changing environment.
Specific Information Requirement: How have logistics to Gaza been interrupted?
Indicators assessed:
1️⃣ Condition and Accessibility of Humanitarian Zones, Roads, Airports, and Ports
2️⃣ Safety Hazards/Security Risks that May Impede Movement
Summary: There have been significant disruptions to the pivotal humanitarian transportation and logistics networks in Gaza. Key challenges include roadblocks, airstrikes, and halted operations at essential crossings, which have greatly impacted aid delivery.
Since this report was released on the morning of the 20th, the Rafah gate has been opened to the first humanitarian convoys. This is consistent with our assessment which identified there were indicators that the route would be established in the 'coming days'. There remains political and security challenges for maintaining humanitarian access within this corridor.
