Humanitarian Operations Update
Myanmar and Thailand: Aid Delivery Post Typhoon Yagi
Our mission to support Myanmar and Thailand in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi is progressing smoothly:
Access Assessments: We have completed remote data collection for humanitarian access in Kayin and Shan states. Currently, our team is evaluating the data, conducting initial analysis, and compiling comprehensive reports on access constraints, which will soon be publicly released.
WASH Aid Delivery: Our WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) aid team is preparing to deliver water filters to Mae Sot, a border town in Thailand, between 19th and 21st October. These filters will provide clean water for up to 10 years, benefitting approximately 50,000 people.
Enga Disaster Resilience Initiative (EDRI): Papua New Guinea
Our cartographic division is nearing the completion of a province-wide landslip risk analysis as part of the Enga Disaster Resilience Initiative:
Advanced Landslip Risk Model: We have developed our own landslip risk model, offering greater detail than existing public datasets such as NASA’s. Below is a comparison of our model with the public datasets to showcase our enhanced capabilities.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Our goal is to work with local stakeholders to implement and utilise these tools effectively. We are compiling a provincial resilience analysis covering all hazards, including tribal conflict exposure, vulnerabilities, and coping capacities.
Upcoming Engagement: In November, our team will travel to Papua New Guinea to engage directly with stakeholders, discussing how to expand these programs, enhance their sustainability, and potentially extend them to other provinces.
Human Rights and Protection Program
We are developing a human rights and protection program, initially focusing on Myanmar:
Key Collaborations: Engaging with organisations like the Chin Human Rights Organisation and thought leaders to identify and address gaps within the human rights ecosystem.
Future Updates: Stay tuned for more details on the program's evolution.

Call to Action: Support Our Aid Program
We estimate that every $100 donated will help 1,400 people gain access to critical services over the coming years. While the HADR Institute independently funds the program, our humanitarian supplies are delivered in partnership with:
Disaster Aid Australia
Safe Water for Every Child - Myanmar
Disaster Aid Thailand
Our logistics are supported by AirLink, but we still need funding for our humanitarian access and capacity assessments to ensure the program's sustainability. These components are expected to have the most significant impact, especially in the restricted environment of Myanmar.
