We’re Deploying in Less Than 24 Hours for Our First International Aid Mission!
Myanmar Humanitarian Support
In less than 24 hours, our team at the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Institute (HADRI) will be on the ground on the Thai/Myanmar border, embarking on our first-ever international direct aid operation. This mission is a major milestone for us, and we couldn’t have made it this far without the support of our community, partners, and donors. But there is still a long way to go, and we need your help to ensure we meet our funding goals to maximize the impact of this mission.
The Challenge in Myanmar
Myanmar is one of the most complex environments in the world for delivering humanitarian aid. With over 18.6 million people in urgent need of assistance, the ongoing conflict, restricted government policies, and a challenging, hazard-prone landscape have made it extremely difficult to reach the most vulnerable populations. However, we believe that no challenge is too great when it comes to saving lives and supporting communities.
That’s why our mission is focused not only on delivering critical supplies but also on breaking down barriers to aid delivery by improving access, coordination, and planning for future operations.
What We Will Be Doing:
Delivering Critical Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Supplies:
In partnership with Safe Water for Every Child - Myanmar and Disaster Aid Thailand, we will deliver essential WASH equipment that will provide clean, safe drinking water to thousands of people. This aid will not only meet immediate needs but also support long-term water sanitation solutions for communities affected by conflict and natural disasters.
Humanitarian Access Assessments:
We will conduct thorough access assessments to understand safe, effective routes for aid delivery and risks that need mitigation. These assessments will focus on how humanitarian organizations can navigate the restrictions imposed by the conflict, enabling us to get aid where it's needed most, even in hard-to-reach areas.
Anticipatory Forecasting for Humanitarian Needs:
Our team is developing innovative tools that forecast humanitarian needs, including early warning systems for water, food, and healthcare shortages. By providing real-time data and analysis, we aim to empower NGOs and local organizations to plan ahead, secure vital resources early, and respond faster in times of crisis.
HADRI Prototype Humanitarian Relief Supplies Risk Forecast Model. This dataset will become interactive and accessible on our systems to enable anticipatory humanitarian aid to save lifes and enable early interventions.
Human Rights and Protection Risk Forecasting:
As part of our commitment to protecting vulnerable communities, we will also be rolling out a protection risk forecasting tool. This tool will help identify potential threats, such as human rights abuses, and enable communities and organizations to take preventative action.
Our risk factors model forecasts sources of risk over time, which we will integrate with protection event modelling. Our end goal is to be able to anticipate protection challenges in specific locations so we can support early intervention.
Why This Mission Matters
This mission is more than just an immediate response to urgent needs—it is an investment in the future of humanitarian work in Myanmar. By improving coordination, access, and planning, we are laying the groundwork for more effective aid delivery in the years to come.
Our work will directly benefit vulnerable communities by:
Providing clean water and sanitation, preventing waterborne diseases and promoting better health outcomes.
Enhancing the ability of local organizations to distribute aid safely and efficiently.
Empowering communities with tools to anticipate and respond to human rights threats.
Improving the overall coordination and planning between humanitarian organizations, leading to more effective, timely aid delivery.
How You Can Help Right Now
Although our team is fully prepared to deploy, we are still short of our funding goal, and we need your support to ensure we can deliver the maximum impact. Every donation, no matter the size, can help save lives.
Here’s how your donation can make a difference:
$1 provides clean water and sanitation support for up to 17 people.
$100 can provide access to these critical services for more than 1,700 people.
Your support will help us reach more people, faster. With your help, we can overcome the immense challenges on the ground and ensure that no one is left behind.
